Florist Shop of the Year
With thanks to Flower Council of Holland who, through their work and dedication to the industry, staged this year long competition to find the Florist Shop of the Year. SFE08 was lucky enough to see the finalists being brought together for the first time when the overall winner was announced. Lots of fun and heartiest congratulations to everyone involved. With thanks to OASIS Floral Products (www.smithersoasis.com) and Dutch Creations (www.dutch-creations.nl) we staged a series of fantastic demonstrations on how to approach Mother's Day with Sally Bennett, how to jazz up hats and accessories with Fascinators with Ann Purt, how to make a success of Valentine's Day with Helen Jamieson, and How to produce Funeral Work that Works with Phillip Horgan.

Business Seminars
During the two days hundreds of delegates attended the business based seminars learning how to hosting an Open Day for Mother's Day and Weddings from The Design Element. They learnt how to treat grieving customers ordering flowers for their funerals as well as many humorous anecdotes from the funeral industry from the ‘other side’ with Phillip Horgan. They learnt how to understand how and why customers buy and the Psychology of Selling with Linda Dovey and also all about the latest legislation regarding Employment Law with the Peninsular Group and how to hold onto your customers. Wedding Seminars
With the fantastic support of Metz UK (www.metz.nl) we staged a series of seminars exploring the different types of weddings that florists are asked to undertake these days. With the traditions and formalities of Christian Weddings being demonstrated by Johann Huisman from Holland, and Jewish Weddings and all the customs associated with them being shown by Aviva Eckstein, with all the background information about Hindu Weddings being demonstrated by Pinkesh Patel and with everything you needed to know about Muslim Weddings explained with Iffat Ali on platform, florists were shown a whole new world in design, customs and traditions that they could use to win future business. Registration Displays
Iain Franklin NDSF FSF designed and constructed a series of enormous displays that thousands of people enjoyed as they arrived at SFE08. Thanks to Carmel Agrexco who supplied the fantastic flower that ensured the delegates had something new to look at. Click here to enjoy what others saw. |
