Hello Marcus,
Thanks for your letter of 24 January.
We had one of our best shows as far as sales and subscriptions were concerned. Numbers were certainly down but we could give more attention to those who came to see us.
As far as location is concerned – We feel that London is not a good option for various reasons (e.g. additional costs to exhibitors, parking and Londoners do tend to be territorial etc) To keep at the ICC is still OK by us because of easy access from around the country. How viable would finding a suitable alternate venue in the Midlands be given that it would need excellent travel access, parking, accommodation etc?
The feedback we’ve had so far is that there were not enough designs around to inspire but then you can’t please all of the people all of the time! The entrance was greatly improved. (Oh and Alison enjoyed meeting your son!)

Hey Marcus,
It was a great show!
I have been to all of what are considered the biggest and best shows here in NA - The Super Floral Show, Arkansas State Show, Texas State Show, Michigan State Show, Great Lakes Show, Southern Retail Florists Show, Canadian Florists Show and Niagara Region Florists show - and saw more actual florists at yours than at all the others put together. I was very pleased with the entire experience. If you could duplicate it over here you would retire a rich man!
From a very selfish point of view I would be interested in trying to convince you to have some kind of POS seminar next year. POS is something that is understood and taken for granted over here but most of the florists I met had little understanding of the concept! Some education would not hurt them.
Sunday night was great. I normally always skip the social component of the shows I go to but really enjoyed it and the chance to talk about the blues with you. I think next time you should do a blues night and do a few songs for everybody!

Being that it was my first show in the UK, it seemed that it went very well. Now it will be up to us and our importer to see if we can make it happen. We spent the week discussing different ways to get started in England. Hopefully your show gave us the kick-start that we will need.

Thanks for the letter requesting feedback from SFE.
We believe the location is ideal. Moving to London would be a logistical nightmare with spiralling costs. Yes, the show went well. The entries to the competition were fantastic, except of course for the one entrant out of the 70 whose vase didn’t give a reading and who swore blind she’d shared with her friend whose water was fine!
Our stand size was much more manageable this year… and the location was perfect.
Roll on 2009!
